Vienna is the mother of coffeehouses. Don’t leave Vienna without visiting at least one of the traditional coffee houses tasting the city’s famous coffee varieties and desserts.
(documented to sit on same location as very first coffee house
in Vienna in 1685, trendy with Vienna high society crowd, smoking!)
During Christmas time, Vienna offers many beautiful Christmas Markets. You may just visit them to see the great decoration, or possible find the one or other present for your friends and family. If it is getting cold, you may want to warm your hands with some
chestnuts or “Gluehwein” (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gluehwein),a hot alcoholic drink.
Christmas markets start to open around mid-November. Some of them are:
Wiener Adventzauber in front of the major’s house – www.christkindlmarkt.at
Altwiener Christkindlmarkt at the Freyung – www.altwiener-markt.at
Spittelberger Weihnachtsmarkt in Spittelberg – www.spittelberg.at
